Parents: Be Sure to Check Out These Five Family-Friendly Kelowna Events for May 2014

The month of May will bring many events to Kelowna. Some of these events are created with the goal of integrating every member of the family and ensuring everyone has lots of fun. As a parent, you absolutely have to make sure you'll take your kids to these events!

Kelowna Actors Studio Presents: The Music Man Matinee

This event is held over multiple dates, including between May 24 and May 25. Starting at 1:00 pm at the Kelowna Actors Studio, you'll find yourself falling in love with this play. It follows Harold Hill, a salesman who cons people in his travels. He convinces them to buy uniforms and instruments for a boys' band that he plans on organizing. His true plan is to run away with the money, but this plan is changed when he falls in love with the librarian. This event makes him turn around and change his character.

Creator's Arts Centre

On May 24, delight yourself with a wonderful dance show. Held at the Kelowna Community Theatre, this show will teach its audience about life. Promises and hopes of the morning, and the challenges and blessings that arise will be presented in a unique form. These tales of life will be told through dance, live music, and drama. Seeing this show will make you and your family feel inspired and uplifted.

Capital One Race for Kids

The Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs will host this fun-filled event for the little ones. On May 31st, get ready for the excitement of a scavenger hunt, combined with a race full of adventures. The Capital One Race for Kids will bring together both community members and businesses alike, so that grownups don't get bored either. All in all, every member of your family will have a chance to enjoy themselves at this exciting event.

The Kelowna Liedertafel Choir Spring Concert

On Saturday, May 3rd, you can expect to immerse yourself and your family in music. The Spring Concert, followed by a dinner and dance will be held at the Parkinson Recreation Centre. The doors will open at 5:30pm, the dinner will start at 6:00 pm, and will be followed by the concert at 7:00pm. Two choirs will join their forces to form an impressive group of 85 members that is bound to delight your ears. Tickets are available at Illichmann's, and they cost $20.

The Great Canadian Dance Challenge

Held at the Kelowna Community Theatre between May 11 and May 13, this event will give you the chance to watch amazing dancers perform. This is a large event, as it has venues in five locations all spread across Western Canada. Three provinces will bring their best dancers to showcase their talent, and compete for crystal trophies, scholarships, and thousands of dollars.

All these events can be enjoyed by the entire family. Adults and children alike will have something calling their attention. So, if you're trying to plan out activities for May, these ones should be high on your list!
