Course Introduction and History
The Kelowna Golf and Country Club dates all the way back to the earliest Kelowna golfing activity in 1899, when a nine-hole course was located close to Memorial Arena and City Hall. A new site was found in 1914 around the Bankhead region but ended up floundering due to World War One, in which many members served between 1914 and 1918. Incorporation of the club took place in 1920, with the first 18-hole course opening on March 20, 1926. This venue has survived the effects of two World Wars and a fire in the 1960s that nearly wiped out the clubhouse. The modern era of the Kelowna Golf and Country Club began with the opening of a new 18-hole course on June 23, 1962. The design for the new links was spearheaded over several years by the course architect, A.V. Macan, who recommended that the club purchase additional property to fulfil new plans. Over the years, continued investments of time and funds from members have helped the club survive, thrive, and grow into a superb golfing destination.

What Makes Kelowna Golf and Country Club Special
The Kelowna Golf and Country Club is the only Kelowna golf course in the area that is owned entirely by members. As a result, the grounds are groomed in a scrupulous manner to make the most out of the beautiful surroundings. These links offer an excellent challenge and are designed with traditional course features. One notable run of holes feature water hazards, nicknamed the "Amen Corner," that mercilessly engulfs poorly-played balls. This club hosts a variety of tournaments for men, women, and seniors, most notably the Ogopogo Invitational, which has a history that spans over 60 years and includes winners such as Dave Barr and Dick Zokol. The club also boasts a robust junior program with more than 150 members benefiting from exclusive tee times, lessons, and friendly competitions organized by professional staff and volunteers. This includes a series of tournaments in courses around the Kelowna area.
The Kelowna Golf and Country Club is a beautiful facility that caters to all types of golfing aficionados. Their difficult, well-groomed course challenges duffers, while the clubhouse provides an oasis of relaxation after a round of golf.
